Obituary of Theresa B. Donahue

Theresa B. Donahue (nee Ricca), 70, of Maplewood passed away at Valley Hospital, Ridgewood on December 3, 2019.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave., Short Hills, on Sat. December 7, 2019 at 11:15 AM. Entombment will be at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery. Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave. Maplewood, NJ on Friday 4:00 - 8:00 PM.

Theresa was born in Newark and has lived in Maplewood for the past 36 years. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree from Glassboro State College. Theresa was a special needs school teacher for 38 years with the Newark Board of Education retiring in 2013. She’s was the past president of the Newark Teacher Union and a dedicated advocate of the Special Olympics where she was a group leader and mentor for the children who participated in the Special Olympics.

Theresa was predeceased by her beloved husband William J. Donahue. Theresa is survived by her loving sister Blanche Simpson and brother-in-law Kenny Simpson, nephew John K. Simpson; nieces Lori Van Orden (Gregg) and Jamie  Kerr (Chris); and grandniece and nephews; Gregg, Taylor  and Grant Van Orden (Kaitlin) and Chris, Bianca and Matthew Kerr and step sons Joseph and Kevin Donahue.
