Obituary of Barbara E. Nelson

Barbara Nelson (nee Bull), 83, of West Caldwell, formerly of Maplewood and Madison, passed away at home surrounded by her family on December 13, 2019.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave, Short Hills, on Wed, Dec 18th at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home 2122 Millburn Ave, Maplewood on Monday, 7:00-9:00 PM and Tuesday, 4:00-8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Valerie Fund  or Mary’s Meals  would be appreciated. 

Barbara was born in Port Jefferson, NY. After raising her family in Maplewood for 27 years, she lived in Madison for 16 years before moving to West Caldwell 2 years ago. Mrs. Nelson was a preschool teacher at South Mountain YMCA in Maplewood for many years. She was a member of the Maplewood Garden Club.

Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband of 40 years Thomas L. Nelson and her sister Mildred Hansen. She is survived by her children Kathryn Clarke (James), Patricia Decker, Margaret Seidel (Spencer), James Nelson (Linda) and Mary Beth Petruzziello (Anthony), as well as her sister Patricia St. Denis, eleven grandchildren, and four great grandsons.
