This is Herman Holpp. I have so many fond memories of Eric and I have been thinking of him every day since I heard the sad news. I was happy to spend a homecoming weekend with him several years ago. He was a fine person and a " mentor " to me and Glenn Kershaw. I wish his family the BEST , and Patty , it has been great to be thinking of you. Many years ago we had SO many memories. Stay well and hopefully our paths will cross sometime in the future .
Herman Holpp…… PS hello to CHRIS... I certainly remember you.. you were great..

I worked with Eric for 3 years at Legal Aid.
He was a funny and kind man. Most importantly, he was a devoted family man. Heartfelt condolences to his lovely family

I worked with Eric at Legal Aid. He was a kind and generous person and a very good attorney. When I moved to Maplewood, he told me all the good spots to eat. :). Since both of my daughters went to Columbia HS, we would often talk about the sports teams. You have my condolences.

I worked with Eric at The LAS Brooklyn Criminal Trial office for decades. For 13 of those years I was fortunate to have my office next door to he and “Cliffy.”
At a challenging and intense job that tests you everyday, Eric was always there for colleagues in a pinch. His reassuring equanimity and sense of humor provided needed perspective.
At some point I appropriated one of his mannerisms: his use of the term “excellent.” The term was flexible enough to be employed during a range of situations, including those that weren’t so excellent.
His family was central. Their pictures adorned a clean, and sparsely organized work space. He is missed; sending love and strength to his family.

So sorry to lose Eric, we were officemates for twenty years and we were the perfect match. Couldn't have picked a better person if I tried. His sense of humor, concern for others and intellect all served to make him a great teammate at Legal Aid. He always would share how proud he was of his daughters and blessed to have them with him. Peace to you all. Cliff Levin

That photo of the three siblings in their Yankee uniforms says it all. What a family! And like his siblings and his parents, Eric Hildebrand was driven by his values, devoting his professional life to the Legal Aid Society. And that was no short commute.
As you rest in peace, dear Eric, may your whole family find comfort in the weeks and month and years ahead in a host of happy, shared memories.
