Obituary of Romaine C. Barrows

Romaine C. Barrows (nee Crater) 94, of East Orange, passed away at the Stratford Manor Rehab and Care Center in West Orange on April 15, 2020.

She was born in Newark, NJ and lived almost her entire life on Oak Street in East Orange.

Romaine was a registered Nurse and worked at a Pediatric office in Irvington for over 30 years after which she worked as a substitute School Nurse for the Newark Board of Education until well into her seventies. She was a member of the Rosary Society at Saint Joseph’s Church in East Orange and also served as a lector at Sunday mass. Romaine enjoyed vacationing at LBI, Atlantic City, bowling, tennis and the NY Mets.

Romaine was an only child and was predeceased by her parents, William and Helen Crater, her husband of 62 years, Robert E., and her son, Robert K. She is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Barrows, Mary Ellen Barrows, and Joyce Ruggiero (Lenny), as well as her 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She also leaves many other family members and friends who will greatly miss her.
Services will be Private.
