Obituary of Victor C. Auth D.D.S.

Victor Charles Auth, D.D.S., 86 years old, passed away at home, with his family, in Maplewood on April 23, 2020.

Dr. Auth was born in Orange, NJ and has lived in Maplewood for over 80 years. He is the product of the Maplewood-South Orange public schools, having attended Tuscan Elementary, Maplewood Junior High, and Columbia High School. He received his undergraduate degree from New York University, and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Auth was a dentist in South Orange for almost 50 years, and loved to connect with, and take care of, his many long-term patients in the community. He was a faithful man who had been a member of Morrow Memorial United Methodist Church in Maplewood for much of his life. There, he taught Sunday School, and also shared his love of music, often playing his violin in chamber groups during worship services. He was an accomplished violinist throughout his life, and found immense joy and peace in playing music, writing music, and teaching the violin to several people in the community.

He was a gentle and kind man who loved his family deeply. He and his wife, Mary, have been married for almost 55 years and have enjoyed an incredibly close relationship throughout their marriage.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary Catalano Auth, by his children Thomas Philip and Jessica Jean Auth, by his grandchildren Lillian Grace, Alexander Thomas, Alexandria Mary, and Camille Isabel Auth, and by his sister Norma Evelyn Auth.
