JOE ! Dear family, my mom is Nan Wade. She passed away yesterday and she is on Holle’s page. I saw Joes name and I couldn’t believe it. My mom worked for the Millburn Recreation department for 30 years. I was a little girl who had free reign in Taylor Park, Joe was one of the men who would look out for me. Often he’d be working in the playground, repairing or painting equipment and I would “help” him. He called me Bethie (Elizabeth). Joe, Julio Policarpio we’re second dads to me. One of the kindest men I’ve ever known and I have thought of him often. He is part of my happy childhood memories. Unbelievable that Joe and mom leave this earth at the same time. I guess God was looking for some good people.
God Bless you all as you navigate life without Joe.

Hi Pop I can’t believe today is a month since you’ve been gone , Emma and I were talking about you last night, she asked me if the nurses did everything to help you and I said yes they tried everything and that you were very sick, it breaks my heart when she asks about you being in the hospital, this has been the hardest month without you , I tell Emma you really did fight to get better and that you loved her very much and we will keep talking about the memories we have of you . We love you very much

I just feel like I have so much to say and this is the place to say it, pop not only were you my grandfather, you were the only father i knew, maybe I didn’t realize it when I was growing up but I definitely appreciated everything you’ve done for me . And especially appreciate you helping me with Emma , she was so lucky to know such an amazing man like yourself , most kids don’t ever get to meet their great grandparents, she asks about you every single day and asks when will you be back? I don’t have the right answers to tell her but I do tell her we have the greatest memories with you and you will always be with us. We will always love you so thank you a million times for giving me the best life and thank you for being in Emma’s life . I love you always ❤️

Hey Pop, it’s Andy. It took me a few days to prepare myself and write something here for you. Firstly, I want to thank you for your years of hard work and dedication to our family.. we couldn’t have asked for a better friend and support system to help us through the struggles of life. All day and night for the past few days I’ve been reflecting on all of the good times we shared together wether it was the trips to museums, the Zoo, listening to Johnny Cash, Conscious, or whatever it was that I wanted to do, you always made it happen. With all of these thoughts the main thing I picked up on is that you’ve showed me how to be a loving man, a strong man and most importantly a family man! I’ve caught myself acting like you, wanting to be exactly like you and you showed me how to walk the walk, and talk it. Thank you for showing me the bright side of life, thank you for the endless corny jokes and smiles under all circumstances good or bad. I’ve been sharing with everyone my favorite memory with you and that is the week of Hurricane Sandy when we were all crammed in your house, Uncle Joe made is way out there with a small generator to keep us warm but it wasn’t the heater that made us comfortable it was your heart! This memory brings up my favorite corny joke of yours I remember it like it was yesterday. You cake up to me and said “Andy it’s like a hotel in here, do you think I should start charging a fee and letting some more people in? I think we could make some money here, we’ll call it Joe-tel California.” I smile every time I think of that, I’ll never forget it. I’ll never forget your love and care for me and our family. You are to thank for making me the strong man I stand as today and I will continue to follow in your footsteps and be the best man I can be, and then some. My heart is aching, tears are running down my face right now and I can’t believe you’re gone but I know you don’t want me to worry about you, I know you’re in good hands and I’m certain you are keeping a close watch on me. I love you so much ❤️ I am proud to call myself your grandson and I will continue the legacy. I will take on your role and keep a watch on our family and spread endless love just like you. Once quarantine is over I’m heading straight to Thomas Edison’s house.. our favorite place to go, just like old times. I know you’ll be there with me, you’re always here with me. Don’t worry about Grandma, she’s in good hands I’m checking up on her daily and doing my best to life her spirits, she really misses you as we all do dearly. Well, I hope you’re having fun up there with your parents and friends. Tell Johnny Cash I said hello!! I love you more than I can put into this text. To my sidekick, my buddy, my poppy, my grandfather and most importantly my best friend I just want to thank you again for the years of love, I couldn’t have done any of this without you. Until we meet again. - Love, Andy

Dad, you were the greatest father and the most honorable human being. You always put everyone first without a second thought and you never once complained. The happiness of others was what made you happy. Your selfless nature was genuine and pure, a calling meant for only the best of men. That's what makes this tremendous loss so difficult. The only comfort is knowing you're helping us navigate this tough time - you wouldn't have it any other way. You would encourage us to turn our grief into gratitude and appreciate the time we had together. I will follow your example and try to make you as proud of me as I was of you.

I dont even know what to say my heart is broken. I know nobody lives forever but we all wanted more time. I'm not sure you did me any favors but thanks for making me a Mets fan and teaching me no matter what you stay loyal and stick by your team. That's the kind of guy you were. You were always there for everyone's games dance recitals or wherever you needed to be even after putting in a hard days work. You and mom taught me so many values and when people say what a good person I am I tell them its because of you guys. Being one of 7 I didn't get everything other kids had but I never even noticed because I thought I had it all and I did. Thanks for being my dad could've picked a better one. I know you will always be watching over us but I'll wish you were still here. Love and miss you always ❤. PS I promise moms in good hands. Till we meet again love Shirley
