Obituary of Alice M. Andrews

Please share a memory of Alice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Alice Mary Andrews, 91, passed away peacefully in hospice on June 26th, 2020. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Brown (George) of Maplewood, NJ, Susan Andrews (Anibal) of Stamford, CT and Patty O’Connell (Jay) of Maplewood, NJ; a brother, Leo Blatz (Joan) of Altoona, Florida and a sister, Sr. Jeannette Blatz (SSND) of Wilton, CT. She also leaves 5 grandchildren who were the lights of her life: Jack, Emily, Molly, Devin & Declan. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 56 years, Frank.  She also leaves many nieces and nephews who were very much a part of her extended family.

A native of Williston Park, NY, Alice met Frank the summer of ‘57 in Water Mill, NY. They married and raised their daughters in Westbury, Vestal and Huntington, NY, retiring to Leesburg, Florida. While in Leesburg, she and Frank were active members of the Scottish Highlands community where they enjoyed a life of travel, entertainment, and many a bridge tournament. They were also active members of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church.

Alice also spent many years as the administrative assistant for AHRC in Brookville, NY. Because of her dedication and love of her job, many special needs children and adults were able to enjoy camp, trips and group home support. She passed this dedication on to her daughters, all of whom volunteered for many years with the organization.

For the past 2 years, Alice lived in Warren, NJ, allowing her to be near her children and to participate in many of her grandchildren’s activities and milestones. This made her so happy and we were happy to have this quality time with her.

A small funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church on July 11th. Cremation was private. Donations in her memory can be made to:  AHRC Foundation, https://www.ahrcfoundation.org/.
