Mary was my colleague at Union High School and also a member of the Diamond Circle (club of 25-year employees of the Union Board of Education) with me. She earned the respect and admiration of all of us. I enjoyed seeing Mary at the DC luncheons and speaking with her on the phone. May she rest in peace.

As a great Neigbor on Garden St, and a Colleague at Union High School, we shared memories and membership in Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Organization for Women Educators. I am honored to have been part of Betty Lou’s life.
God’s Blessings, Luciann and Ed Slomkowski

Aunt Betty- you made a difference in this world. You made a difference in my world. You were a confidante, a mentor, a tutor. You taught me about my lineage and loyalty. You celebrated with us and laughed with us. You showed grace to me and loved my children. You are forever in our hearts. Much love to you always- Tyler, Steve, Wyatt and Calista

What a caring wonderful person and teacher she was. I along with several classmates had her as a teacher in her first job I think in Union Highschool in 1953.As an educator I've never know a teacher who could top her in so many ways. So happy to see you at our 60th reunion. You were loved by all of us.

"Aunt Betty Lou" was a childhood friend of my mother Helen Tansey Farhat, Helen Donovan Fuelner, Marian Brady and Audrey Lotz, She was the last of a group of fast friends from early childhood in Bayonne who spent many hours at her house with her 'Grandma Nolan' who baked wonderful cookies. She was my godmother and an integral part of our family. If it was your birthday or another special event, you always got a card - she never forgot. I had the trip of my young life when after my junior year in college, she and I drove across country to California and then flew to Hawaii and then drove back to NJ stopping to visit family in Michigan for my 21st birthday. She loved to travel especially on many cruises around the world and inspired me and my sisters to explore. May she rest in peace. Leslie Farhat Allain and my sisters Janine Farhat, Merrill Medansky, Marisa Dodge, Maria Farhat Tanzola and their families.

May God hold you in the Palms of HIs Hands, Mary. Your faith in God was steadfast, Your presence in the life of all who knew and loved you will be treasured memories forever.Your generous giving of yourself, support, time and talent to others was never ending.
Your love of Mathematics, Teaching, Traveling, (especially Cruising), the Ballet, Broadway Shows, dining out in Restaurants and doing crossword puzzles are just a few of the many things in your life you enjoyed. You were always inviting and treating others to share in the many interests you loved. Your life was one of service to God, your family, friends and others. Your physical presence will be deeply missed and is a loss to those of us that you made a difference in our lives by your examples of living life to the fullest. Mary, as you are laid to Rest may the words of The Irish Blessing, follow you to your eternal home.
"May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand" as you join your Parents, your cousin Monsignor Doyle, and your life long friends, Mary Martin, Audrey Lotz and the many others that have gone before you.
Until we meet again, I will miss our phone calls, visits, and advice about education, religion and life in general. You will always hold a special place in my heart for the 35 years we knew each other. With Love and fondest of memories always, Nancy Rajoppi
