Catherine Ann Maranto, 59, of Maplewood passed away at her home on Tuesday September 22, 2020 surrounded by family. A private Celebration of Life will be on October 3rd at 1pm. For those that would like to view the celebration on live stream please visit jacobhollefuneralhome.com

Catherine was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She was raised in Bel Air, MD and graduated from Bel Air High School.. She attended Towson University for her undergraduate degree and received a Masters of Social Work from Hunter College. Catherine was a Clinical Social Worker for more than two decades, most recently at  NJIT in Newark as well as in private practice in New York and New Jersey.

Catherine  lived in Maplewood for 19 years. She was a member of the choir at Our Lady of Sorrows (NJ) and was a vocalist with numerous ensembles including the Peter Duchin Orchestra, her own band Slam and the Shepherd Singers (NYC). She was a past member of Actor’s Equity, SAG and AFTRA and attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

She was predeceased by her mother Nancy Heffner Dunaway. Catherine is survived by her son Beau Fighera and his father Frank Fighera, partner Robert McGrath, father Joseph P. (Berdie) Maranto, brother Joseph M. (Nancy) Maranto and sister Carole (Jerry) French. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Maria Droste Counseling Services (mdcsnyc.org) or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (bcrf.org).
