Grandpa Bob was such a generous and constant soul in all of our lives. I can’t count how many memories I have of him. From summers at the pool to the Jersey boardwalk...from visiting his mother with him to lobster dinners in LBI...from catching crabs to taking down the American flag every night at sunset...from spinning circles in his car with us while Grandma yelled at him to our trips to the corner store and finally how he treated his great children like they were his own, Grandpa leaves behind many memories. He loved to talk for hours and he loved his wife. He was always fair minded about everyone and we were all blessed to have him in our lives. Just look at how he is holding his wife’s hand in this photo, it sums up everything about him. Safe journey Grandpa and give a kiss to Grandma for all of us. Love, Kellie

Bob was my Grandpa..GP I would call him sometimes. He was the most Grand Pa and much more. The memories of the time spent with him and my grandmother are some of the best I have. Lots of Shirley Temples and Lobster on LBI where GP taught me how to fold the American flag and about setting crab traps. I would wind up learning so much more from him when I had the privilege to work with him at his business Frontier Security. Every week day I was lucky enough to spend with him during those years and I would never be where I am today if it wasn’t for him. We could talk and laugh for hours he had the best sense of humor. I will miss that greatly. I love you Grandpa. Give Dolly a big kiss from me too.

When I think of my step Dad I have nothing but great memories. He introduced me to rusty nails-not the kind you hammer but the mix of Dranbuie and Scotch that gets you hammered. In his drinking days, usually on a long weekend get away on Long Beach Island, he’d order me a fresh rusty nail before I had a chance to finish the first. Those were the wild days and we had fun.
It was on one of these jaunts that he and my mother, June had a disagreement over something and he was so hurt by whatever barb she got him with, he said something I’ve never forgotten. He said : “Julie your mother is dissolving my heart “ I didn’t know he was a literary genius. As a writer you look for new meanings in words, contrasts, juxtaposition. Metaphor. In only a few words he described perfectly that crushing emotion when someone you love says something hurtful. Or, you lose someone you love.
Bob walked me down the aisle. Stairs to be more accurate. It was Halloween 25 years ago and i’d asked him to come as Dracula. My mother said he’d never do it but he showed up in a full Dracula cape. He wouldn’t do the make up but it didn’t matter. He was the most handsome and debonair Dracula ever.
Out of all the amazing memories I have of him, the one that really impressed, was when he called me to say he was reading and enjoying the novel I wrote and published in 2019. I didn’t expect him to finish it—i didn’t expect him to read it. Told from an eight year olds point of view, it was a lot to ask. He wasn’t a big reader. To my delight, at the age of 88 years of age he was able to follow a crazy girl’s perspective. And he wasn’t lying. We discussed the novel over dinner and he knew it all. He complimented me when others would have dismissed the effort—you the so called “artistic types.” Bob was cool.
Wow. What an amazing human being. Always a gentlemen. Kind, generous, chivalrous and the best grandad our children ever had. We discussed politics and always ended up in agreement—rare these days My heart is dissolving Bob because I already miss And our great times together.
