Obituary of Bernard R. Schaefer

Bernard R. Schaefer, 91 of Maplewood passed away at home on February 7, 2021. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect Street, South Orange, on Sat, Feb 13th at 10:30 AM. Interment Private. Bernie was born in Newark and has lived in Maplewood since 1975. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and later received his bachelor’s degree in business from Upsala College. He spent his career as a contracting representative with Cyclone Fence Division, US Steel based in Newark. He was an avid fisherman and swimmer (at the Connection in Summit).  He enjoyed cooking, wine and the company of his family and friends. Bernie was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years Rita Brenner Schaefer. He is survived by his devoted children Eleanor Russomanno, Catherine Gannon and Patricia Fahy; their husbands Amato, Paul and Thomas; and his loving grandchildren Caroline, Rebecca, Kathleen, Connor, Amanda, Brian and Kevin.
