I remember Abi vividly from our days at Jamaica College. He was focused, very talented at football and a great person. I followed his progress from afar and am deeply saddened by his passing.

The Wilson family sends our deepest condolences to Abi's family: Eddie, Auriol, Dianne, Ding and Nicole. My fondest memory of Abi goes back to those halcyon days on UWI Mona campus, where as the mother of 3 young girls: Tonya, Misha & Anna, I was part of the shared parenthood of the College Common kids and took my turn as carpool driver for the Mona Prep school. Abi was the child with the tentative but oh so spontaneous smile, who with a deliberate pace would climb into the car. In the end, as he bravely dealt with his illness he had a permanent place in my prayers. Now with his friends and family I pray that he rests in eternal peace ... Pearl

Abi (Abiose) and his older brother Ding (Odinga) grew up in the Campus Kids alongside my two sons Colin (now deceased) and Neil. Abi was 10 months younger than Colin and 3 years older than Neil. They were all such close friends and we the campus parents shared the parenting of them all. It was a good time in all our lives. To lose Abi now is like losing another son. Some of my fondest memories of working at Guardian Investments will always be my brief but jovial conversations with John. John was one of those people who could make the most stressful day at work seem like a "piece of cake". He always had a smile on his face, only kind and uplifting things to say and never complained about his stresses while keeping the entire department moving forward. Not only was he the consummate professional but he was also a kind and gentile person –a combination that’s truly hard to find in the world today.

I started a position at Guardian Life in 2003 in Information Security. I met John around 2007 and worked with him on several projects. John was professional, knowledgeable, trustworthy, and intelligent. His family should be proud of his commitment to always choosing the right path and always doing the right thing. Those qualities are why I always enjoyed working with him, and gave him priority when he reached out for help. I admired John's character and ability. I will certainly miss him. I pray that God opens his arms and welcomes John, and that He gives John's family the strength to get through this difficult time.

Abi was my cornerstone of life in college common, he showed me the ropes, the neighborhood, taught me how to train dogs and I was always in awe of his football skills. He was a leader and a friend who you could always count on for a positive word. I’m glad we kept close as he moved to nyc and I fondly remember many jokes and late night hang outs we shared. Gone from this incarnation but impossible to forget.

From he was a baby, then a young child and young man Abi was known as the charming person with a truly beautiful smile who who could get anyone to do anything he wanted. It was a real joy to see him grow up with these attributes and features and to watch him become a very capable and highly professional adult. It was also a pleasure to watch him play the role of "big brother" to my son and daughter and in so doing help to calm them and straighten out their behaviours.
