Meeting you while visiting nana with cait, it came clear to me everything your niece told me about you was right, big, tall, strong and can always see through the silver lining in any conversation and knew how to push to the facts. being able to learn about you through your brother and niece always let me know that you had and will always have a huge influence and inspiration to their daily lives. and mine. Respect for your character is something i saw throughout anyone that talked about you. To be assertive and strict in a way thats understanding and compassionate is something a-lot of people strive for and if he left anything for everyone it was a demonstration on how to not only be a model individual in the community, family man, an uncle, and above all a leader. Everyone should take a piece of Jimmy's character, way of life, and compassion for everyone before himself.

My heartfelt condolences to Chief DeVaul wife and loved ones. I am shaken by his sudden passing. Early last year we came across at a vision center in EO and unexpectedly had a pleasant chat reminiscing days gone by while I was Maplewood's CFO. The mutual show of affection, admiration and respect was noticed by all patrons. Rest in peace sir.... You are in better hands now.

We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Maplewood Police Chief Jimmy DeVaul. We offer our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Chief DeVaul’s family, friends and loved ones. His support for Tuscan School has been unwavering. We fondly remember, so many years ago, when Chief DeVaul served as a D.A.R.E. Officer for Tuscan School. As Chief of Police, his partnership with Maplewood Township Committee and Tuscan School PTA Safety Committee led to the establishment of a new school traffic pattern to improve traffic and pedestrian safety in the area of Tuscan School. Chief DeVaul’s presence and positive impact are woven into the fabric of the Tuscan School community. He will always be highly regarded for his enduring commitment to enhancing student safety at Tuscan. We are sending prayers to Chief DeVaul’s family and The Maplewood Police Department during this difficult time of loss.
