Mrs. Shirley Delores Aymer, née Lewin, of South Orange, New Jersey passed away on March 31, 2023 after a sudden illness. A memorial service in celebration of her life and bearing witness to our hope of the resurrection will be held at 11 am on April 29, 2023, at South Orange-Vailsburg United Methodist Church, 150 S Orange Ave, South Orange.
Shirley was born in the parish of Clarendon on the island of Jamaica in the Caribbean, on December 6, 1939, to Charles Lewin and Mabel Williams. She was a graduate of Clarendon College and the University of the West Indies in Mona, Jamaica where she received a BSc. in Chemistry and Zoology, and a Dipl. Ed. Her life was devoted to education, teaching in the Caribbean and the United States, ending with 25 years teaching at Clifford Scott/East Orange Campus 9. In retirement, she volunteered as a math tutor and as a volunteer for Literacy Volunteers of America.
