Owen Vincent McNany, IV

1972-2023

Vincent McNany passed into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.  He was a graduate of Oratory Prep (1990) and Seton Hall University (BS 1994 & MBA 2001).  He spent over 25 years working in finance and accounting for companies spanning from coast to coast.

Vincent will be remembered by all for his sharp wit and his passions for music, running, sailing, and yoga.  He loved nothing more than a captive audience for one of his many stories, be it at a family celebration, a gathering of friends, or a waitress just trying to take his order.  His Christmas parties in Livingston were a marquee event for many years.  Vincent was his fullest self when surrounded by his family and friends, and at his happiest when down the shore or on the water.  His many adventures in life have been firmly cemented in McNany lore.  Ask any of his close family or friends, and they will eagerly share their favorite "Vin-cidents" with you, which is the greatest way to get a glimpse of the man those who loved him most saw in him every day.  It is through these wonderful memories of Vincent at his best that he will continue to spread the joy that he was so uniquely able to bring to those in his life.

Vincent is survived by his children, who were his greatest joy and pride in life: Peter (25), Madison (21), and Brendan (17), and their mother Maureen Smith McNany (Livingston).  He will be missed dearly by his life partner of many years Julie Ann Katz (Linden).  He will be forever remembered by his parents Owen and Patricia McNany (Maplewood), and his siblings and their spouses: Kelly and Sean Gorman (Cranford); Brian and Rebecca McNany (Harding); James and Maggie McNany (West Orange).  He will always remain the self-appointed "favorite uncle" to Connor, Abby, Quinn, Ciara, Julia, Fiona, Owen, and Owen James.

The family will receive friends and relatives at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave, Maplewood on Monday, July 31, from 4:00-8:00pm.  All are welcome to come share a story, reminisce together, and keep Vincent's memory alive.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, 217 Prospect Street, South Orange on Tuesday, August 1, at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to “Mickey’s Gift,” a charitable endeavor established to carry on the work of Vincent's aunt, Mickey McNany, whose life was dedicated to teaching children and inspiring in them a love of the arts.  Checks can be sent c/o Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Avenue, Maplewood, NJ 07040.
