I got to know Doug when we recruited him to AIG Global Real Estate. He was a great addition to their team and a great human being to interact with. We caught up every once in a while since and I share my condolences to Doug's family.

So sorry to hear this. I played Ultimate with Doug (before the twins came and provided other obligations for weekend mornings). He was an enthusiastic player who was always welcoming and kind. This is a real loss.

To share "a" memory of Doug is a difficult task for someone who holds so many, and no one is here for me to go down the rabbit hole of stories I've recalled for the last several days. For over a decade of my life Doug was an "influencer" to me and many other young men in Maplewood before the term was even established, and in a much better way than it is commonly used today. I can say without a doubt, that dozens of now middle-aged leaders learned some of what has made them successful from Doug and their time in Troop 21. Every job interview they've ever had was made easier and more familiar, by the multiple boards of review that they faced for advancement in the troop he structured.
Doug took the reigns of leadership for Troop 21 when it needed him the most. At a time in his life that I now know was likely the most difficult to give as much time as he did to children that weren't his own, he did so for years. Without his effort at that time, the Troop probably wouldn't exist today. Not only did it survive under his leadership, but it thrived, and grew. We returned to Philmont as we had been when he was a scout, we ventured to a new summer camp when the one we'd visited for decades was sold by the council, and in the face of that uncertainty, for a summer we even went on a solo expedition to hike the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail in Maine. Countless adventures and memories with other like-minded individuals were made possible because of his generosity and dedication.
Even after my time in Troop 21 ended my friendship with Doug continued. When I attended college at Boston University he reached out while on a business trip and took me out to dinner while in town. He told me it was the first time he'd been able to have a drink with someone who'd been a scout under his leadership. I almost felt guilty revealing that I was still under 21 but the waiter just didn't ask. For years even after I'd graduated from college when I was home for Christmas break I'd always go to Doug and Wendy's house after my family's celebration was over because quite frankly, they were my family too. I remember one of the very last years I made it over there was after Duncan and Devon had just been born and Doug and Wendy were so happy and proud to be parents.
Doug, you are gone way too soon. Your children are lucky to have had you as a father and role model, and you have left a lasting legacy of leadership on so many other young people in the community that was yours for your entire life. You will be missed by many, and forgotten by none.

You were such a great Dad, brother, uncle, Godfather, and friend. Remembering, with love, all the fun times we shared and your extreme generosity to us and so many. Grateful for all the times that you hosted so many family and friends at your home - it was always a blast at your Wolski gatherings (and such a talented chef- all of your food was delicious)! Thankful you were such a big part of our wedding, and Rex’s Godfather. All of the memories…1980s when tagging along on drives to Syracuse weekends with you, LBI, NYC, Debutante ball at the Waldorf, Tina and Tony’s Wedding then Hennessy’s with the cast, Ultimate frisbee, carriage house, Ocean City MD: Seacrets, Macky’s, Fager’s Island, the $2 bus, Christmas dinners and holiday get togethers, engagement and bachelor/ette parties, wedding and baby showers, anniversary and mortgage parties, even just watching tv or movies like the Godfather with a good pot of meatballs, the original Office, soccer and football games, Hoboken and finding that coffee table on Washington street, more Syracuse weekends, family cruise, Tulum and xcaret, Toro Loco, Ryan’s, Cryan’s, comedian at the lodge, Aunt Mary’s rye, helping to make girls NOLA trip happen, Rock Spring country club, finding and sending the best peri peri sauce from ironbound, NYC trips, Texas visits and so many other occasions- thank you for the fun filled times!
We always enjoyed hearing about your travels with Wendy like your Greece cruise, Hawaiian and European trips, many Oktoberfests, and always brought home the coolest souvenirs for others and also to add to your home. Your family trips to Disney, Cancun, and cruises created such special memories. You’ve touched so many lives. May you rest in peace, Doug. You’ll be missed by so many and will forever be in our hearts, We love you, Doug! We are so sorry and sending love, prayers, and strength to you, Wendy, Duncan and Devon.
With our deepest sympathy-
Love, Eddie, Meredith, Rex and Brooke
