James F. Caffrey III, 95 of Warren, formerly of Irvington, NJ died on Fri, Oct 27, 2017 at Morristown Medical Center. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Church of the Little Flower, 310 Plainfield Ave in Berkeley Heights on Tues, Oct 31st at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at St. Mary's-Stony Hill Cemetery in Watchung. Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home 2122 Millburn Ave, Maplewood on Sunday, 2-5 PM and Monday, 4:00-8:00 PM. For more information or to send condolences, please visit jacobhollefuneralhome.com. Born in Newark, Mr. Caffrey lived in Springfield, then Irvington before moving to Warren 30 years ago. Jim attended Notre Dame University and Niagra University, before World War II interrupted his studies. He went on to serve in the Army Air Corps from 1942-1946. He then became a funeral director and worked with his father and eventually became owner of the family business, James F. Caffrey & Son Funeral Homes, from 1946 - 1992. The family funeral home business lasted through four generations at two locations in Newark and Irvington for 103 years (1889-1992). Jim was a 4th Degree Grand Knight, Member of Council 1856 in West Orange and Council 4066 in Maplewood, a past member of the Ancient Order of Hiberans and a Member of the NJ State Funeral Directors Association. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Genevieve A. Caffrey (nee Carew) whom he was married to for 65 years. He is survived by his children Marguerite (Peg) Brady, James F. IV, Michael P., Thomas J., John C., Matthew T., MaryAnne and Andrew P. Caffrey. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
