Obituary of Bernice C. Chin

Bernice C. Chin, 97, a long-time resident of Millburn, NJ passed away peacefully in Bergen County on January 15, 2024.

The family will be receiving friends at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home (2122 Millburn Ave, Maplewood) on Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM.  The family will be holding a private funeral service on Monday January 22, 2024. 

Bernice was born in Trenton, NJ and lived in Millburn, NJ from 1966 through 2019.  Bernice earned her BA from Hunter College and her MA from Montclair State University.  She was an elementary school teacher for the Maplewood-South Orange school system for over 25 years. After her retirement, Bernice took up painting and became an award-winning watercolorist.  Bernice also was an avid golfer and played regularly at the Millburn Township Golf Course, where she holds a hole-in-one on the first hole.

Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Charles, and her son, Robert. She is survived by: her daughter, Donna, and son-in-law, Gary; her grandchildren, Katrin (Colin), Kimberly (Brandon), Jeffrey (Jaclyn), Alexandra (Cory), and Megan (John); and three great-grandchildren.
