I had the good fortune to hang out with Joe on a few occasions, most notably the annual trips to the Army/Navy game in Philadelphia. He was a genuinely good guy, quick with a joke or a funny story, and he always made the day more fun; he will be missed. My condolences go out to his family & friends -- may you find peace in this difficult time.

So sorry to hear about Joe's passing. I recently saw him at another unhappy event (a friend's father's funeral) and it was like "reunion" time all over again. My condolences to his family, especially Jim whom I sang in the St. Joseph's folk group with. Joe will be missed.

Jimmy and family,
So sorry to hear the news about Baby Buddha. Joe always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.
He made me laugh many times. I remember the time he lost a fishing lure at Crosset Lake. Better not tell that story here....
Joe,you leave us all with many fond memories, you will be missed

"Joe B"...How can that name being shouted across a room at an incoming guest change everything? It was Joe. The kisses and hugs, the jokes and the stories. Joe LOVED, and was LOVED. John, Janie, Jim and Andrea, he loved, but his devotion to his nephews and nieces blew me away. There was never a visit from Uncle Joe (what my niece and nephew called him) that did not include a picture or story of what they were doing Their first steps, engagements, marriages, and children. Pride oozed from him about their accomplishments, personal and military. We will miss him dearly.

Boy!! The memories!!! He went to Columbia with my kids and was a friend to me from the time I bought the North End Tavern. He even worked there for a while and was always a conscientious friend. When I sold the place and at last retired, he kept me abreast of what was happening in the old Hilton neighborhood. I'll never forget the night his brother Jim had caught a 60 lb. Cod off Mass. and he and Joe brought me a couple of pounds of it which I cooked w/garlic up stairs. Great!
Sadly, Joe called me in FL to tell me of the death of my last bartender, Gary Bollaro. Joe was one lovely human being and had been a friend to me and my family for nearly 19 years.

I only just found out myself this weekend at a party with several former high school classmates I hadn't seen in 30+ years that Joe has passed. We wrestled together and often I wondered what he was doing. Sometimes life just takes you in different directions but he is one person I wish I had the opportunity to stay in touch with. He was a good person and always super positive. He made me a better wrestler because of his constant encouragement. I was saddened to learn of his departure from this life. All who knew him are lucky to have had that opportunity.

I last spoke with Joe in 2003 while I was on a mobilized active tour of duty prior to deploying to Iraq. I had a fun telephone conversation with Joe, promising to get over to "Jersey" soon to look him up.
Well time passed by before I realized how much it did, and as I came across Joe's number while I was cleaning out old "stuff", I decided to Goggled his name to call and say hello. My Google search delivered this rather somber notice.
I recently became aware of the passing of two former military acquaintances this past year. News such as this only drives home the point of never leaving for tomorrow what you can do today to say hello to someone you know.
Joe was absolutely a great individual. Always with a quick smile, a laugh, and with a great sense of humor. His Indian newspaper stand lines were a hallmark of that jovial spirit!!!
Sorry Joe, I really wished that I called to say hello much, much sooner.
To a good Soldier, and friend.... Rest in peace, you will be certainly missed by all those who knew you.
