I grew up on Fifth Street. The whole Fiore family felt like my extended family.
Margaret's Mother welcomed and embraced my Mom as a daughter. We grew up in a neighborhood and street where we were all like family. The Fiore family had so many members of brothers and sisters right there. To this day we the children are like family members.
Aunt Marge or Margaret would walk everywhere. She walked to work South Orange Construction for years. She walked to church, to the grocery store. She would say it can never stop walking.
One little known fact was that Margaret could dance! She was a Fred Astaire dance teacher. She taught my Uncle Norman Lansing how to dance.
She started to teach my husband and I. What patience she had!
Margaret was very active in politics.
To this day she is Co Democratic Chair in South Orange.
She is an active member of the South Orange Lions.
Margaret attended every Columbia High School reunion and told me about it.
RIP Margaret my prayers are with the whole Fiore family.

I met Margaret through my husband Tom Morris. She was a ray of hope for us at a very difficult time in our lives. Tom knew that if anyone needed anything in South Orange "just ask Margaret Fiore" because if Margaret didn't have the answer she definitely knew someone who did. We needed a new home and it would not be easy in South Orange. Tom went to Margaret and she put in a good word for us and we were able to move into our current home. We would see her often walking to work, walking to Pathmark, to local eateries. She had (I think) broken her hip two different times but she always rebounded and with or without her walker she was out and about again. She was a grand historian of South Orange and never hesitated to catch me up on the Village's past characters. I will miss you Margaret, but more than that I am forever grateful I had the opportunity to know you. I know there's a big family reunion going on up there. Rest in peace...But something tells me you are walking up there too.
