I've been good friends with Bill since the mid-50's and it is with great sadness that I learned of his passing .
Bill was a very engaging , likeable guy who got along well with most everyone .
Bill was fun to be around and always had the skill of making you smile , laugh and forget the the difficulties you might be saddled with .
Rest in peace , Bill , you will be sorely missed , my friend .

Having known Bill since second grade, it's hard to put into words or summarize a friendship of over 62 years.
He has left a void that can only be filled with fond memories.
" Willie" was one in a million, and those that knew him will attest to the many hours of "Willie Stories" that are endless.
We served in each of our weddings, and shared season tickets to the Knicks in the late 60's,where Willie was a legend, with his " over the top " rooting.
I will miss him forever, and hope we can be reunited in the next life.
Your best friend,
Paul

You were more like a brother to me then a cousin. We shared a love of sports, the shore, our family and I'll always remember your wonderful love of life. You were well beyond a proud grandfather in your love for your grandson. Your pride in Jennifer and David was real and loving.
Silvana and I are so happy that we shared this past July 4th with you and Sandy. You will always be in our hearts, thoughts and prayers,
Greg & Silvana Manning

Uncle Bill - we will miss you terribly . I will miss that grin and the "colorful" commentary as you watched Knicks games! To a man who truly lived his life you will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Love You.

When my good friend Paul Ribardo called on Saturday to tell me that Bill had passed away, I was stunned. Bill and I grew up together in South Orange in the 50s-60s, and remained friends until today. Bill (aka Billy, Willy) was an unforgettable person, and someone I consider as one of the best friends I will ever have. Not only was he a great guy, he was also an incredible ballplayer (one of the best schoolyard players in Jersey); and surely the most fun to be around when you were a young guy, out for a good time, in the 60s...Willy, Paul, and I gave life a very good run back in the old days in S Orange.
Billy and I kept in touch over the years, and he took a sincere interest in how I was doing. He put a smile on my face when we spoke.
I look forward to flying from Vermont to Jersey, and having a chance to meet and speak with Bill's family and friends at Prestons on Thursday afternoon.
RIP old friend...save me seat in Heaven...
Your buddy, Rich
