William J. Manning, 69, of Forked River, N.J., formerly of Boonton, N.J., and South Orange, N.J., died on July 21, 2012, at the Community Medical Center, Toms River, N.J.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, N.J., on Friday, July 27, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. Visitation will be held at the Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, N.J., on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. For more information or to send condolences, please visit prestonfuneralhome.net
Born in Newark, N.J., William lived in Boonton and South Orange before moving to Forked River 11 years ago. He worked for the South Orange Fire Department from 1975 to 1994 when he retired as deputy chief. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965.
He was the beloved husband of the late Maureen McEnroe; devoted father of Jennifer Sheehy and her husband, Michael, and David Manning; loving grandfather of William Sheehy; dear brother of Dolores Streko; former husband of Carol L. Manning; loving friend of Sandra Feeley.
