To The Essoka Familiy,
Growing up, Ndome was like our daughter, in & out of our home, just as Kiana was to your family. My heart is broken, my spirit shaken, & my soul is in mourning with you Gloria, Modi & family. But each day a light shines. That light is Ndome shining through Amadie & Sayje. We will never forget Ndome, always in our hearts, forever in her children. GOD BLESS

Hi Ndo,
You were someone special, especially when you were just a little girl, not afraid to express your feelings to anyone. You are gone, for your work on this earth is done. Good a thing you left behind Ndolo and my dear brother Mukudi. I wish I could have been there but the long distance made it impossible for some of us back home to be present. You fought a good fight.
You will be missed by all of us and please look down on your children and parents, especially Moh, and give them the courage to bear the grief while remembering you with all the love you left in their hearts.
GOOD NIGHT MY DEAR COUSIN and perfect PEACE !!!

On july 30th 2007, Iwas informed you had died. Up till now, I find it very hard to beleive.
My mbombo "Ndo" as our name is sometimes shortened; to me, you are alive; for true part of a person is the one that dies and lives.
I know when your path was dark, God walked close by your side, guided your every wondering step, and led you with the tenderest care
I miss you so much dearest daughter
You were so strong, loving and caring. I do not need to understand where you have gone to, because I know you are being comforted and warmed with God's LOVE.

Dear Lynnette:
It's been more than 6 years since your death but the sadness and pain have not diminished. I think of you every day, many, many times at different times in your life and in many situtations. Anyone who talks to me about you always mentions your beautiful smile, bubbly personality, devotion to your children and willingness to work hard for what you wanted. Memories, happy, sad and otherwise, flood into my mind without warning. I look at your picture every day, your beautiful smile and radiance. Who would have thought that you would be taken away from your children and family? Better it should have me who has lived long enough. I grieve for Sayje and Amadi for whom you are a vague memory, your father, talks about you every day and fell apart for a long time after you died. I guess you were the glue that held Jonathan and Yulanda close to us; it is no more and only adds to our sorrow. Rest in peace , dear daughter. I will never forget you.
Love, your mother.

Dear Mr.and Mrs.Essoka,
I was so shaken when I heard of the news of Ndome's passing. Flashes of her lugging that chello to school, and of those great slumber parties with Mr. Essoka's amazing stories went before my eyes. While I can't remember the last time I actually saw her, the sound of her laughter is as clear as day to me.
Please accept my condolences, and pass them along to Jonathon and Ndome's family. My heart is with you all.

I'm not sure if you remember me . . . ., but I spent almost every summer with Ndome at Sheppard's Mill Camp. Some of my best childhood, summer memories include her. I was in the process of searching for old camp friends, as it's been more than 20 years since seeing everyone, and was so shocked and upset to come across this news. I never had the privilege of meeting her children, but my heart goes out to them. Although it's now been a year since she passed, I don't imagine it gets any easier. My sincerest sympathy to you and your family.

I had the pleasure of growing up with Ndome being Jonathan's friend & being over at the Essoka's bright yellow home on Grove Rd. just about every morning growing up & walking "Durr-avis". Her smile and way she didn't take mess from her older brother were always a pleasure. I still remember being tears laughing at Mr. Essoka's "Adrian Dantley" impression, and being a proud 'almost' older sibling seeing her in her prom dress. I still cannot believe that your mom, Ndome, is no longer with us! I hope that you know and feel that you were her whole world and that you were wanted and dearly loved by her. She did her very best to give you diverse experiences and to teach you character virtues so that you are well grounded for life. She did an excellent job!
Although I know you miss your mom very much, try to remember the fun, vacations, and lessons she taught you; in this way you will keep her memory alive and in your heart she will live forever.
Ndome’s bubbly personality and her way of flitting about like a butterfly from place to place will be remembered by all of us who knew and loved her. Personally, I will treasure the many presents she gave me over the years.

Ndome has an inspiring spirit that I know will live on in our memories of her, for something that remarkable can not be destroyed. My experience of her is a woman who was focused and "didn't allow the grass to grow under her feet!" I had the pleasure of sharing with her our common experience of becoming homeowners and "holding it down" despite life's adversities. What really impressed me most about Ndome was her steadfast devotion to her children. She was an awesome mother determined to give her children all that she could to help them grow through this life. I feel blessed that my life has been touched and enlightened by the beautiful spirit of Ndome.

As a friend and co-worker of Jonathan, I met his sister Ndome only once at a summer barbecue. What I remember most is Ndome's beautiful smile and her witty sense of humor. I met Sayje and Amadi, too, and sensed immediately Ndome's strength as a Mother. I admired the loving and nurturing way in which she interacted with her children. Sayje and Amadi have visited their Uncle Johnnie at work on many occasions, and I and others enjoy their sweetness and innocent maturity. Ndome has brought more GOOD into the world through her life and through two wonderful gifts she leaves for us -- Sayje and Amadi. For that, we all should be thankful.
