Obituary of Serge F. Angiel

Dr. Serge Francois Angiel, 70, of Springfield, NJ, formerly of Maplewood, NJ and Woodstock, NY, died August 27, 2008. He was born in Paris, France on March 2, 1938 and came to the United States in 1940. He earned Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts and Doctor of Education degrees from Columbia University. He was principal of Columbia High School, Maplewood from 1973 to 1980 and superintendant of schools of the Emerson School District in NJ from 1980 to 1993.
Dr. Angiel was a volunteer ski patroller for the National Ski Patrol for many years. He was section chief and regional director of the Southern New York Region of the Eastern Division of the National Ski Patrol. Throughout his life he travelled frequently to Europe and spent many summers in France and Greece.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Christine, daughter Nicole Angiel, son-in-law David Rehkopf, granddaughter Cleo Angiel Rehkopf, brother Pierre Angiel, sister-in-law Margaret and nephew Randal Angiel.
A private memorial gathering to honor his life will be held later in the week. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial/Scholarship Fund of the Eastern Division of the National Ski Patrol c/o David J Nelson, Fund Chairman, 2 Terrace Road, Boonton, NJ 07005.
