Obituary of Joseph Eric Flanagan

Joseph Eric  Flanagan, 89 of Maplewood passed away on March 10, 2019. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady Of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange on Friday, March 15th  at 10:30 AM. Interment Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, E. Hanover.  Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home 153 South Orange Ave, South Orange on  Thursday, 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Born in Montreal, Canada Eric was a long time resident of the South Orange/Maplewood area. He received his  Bachelors Degree from Lehigh University. He worked for Harrington Construction in South Orange for many years right out of college, he then was the business manager for Our Lady of Sorrows Church, South Orange from 1995-2007. Eric was the former Grand Exalted Ruler and Chairman of the Children’s Special Needs Committee at the South Orange Elks. He was an avid gardner and was a member of the Maplewood Garden Club and also volunteer gardner for Our Lady of Sorrows for many years. Eric is survived by his dear companion Andrea Curley, nieces and nephews: Michael  Dennehy, Erin  Cettina, Maureen  Ericsson, Terrance  Flanagan Jr. and many grand nieces and grand nephews.
