On July 1, 2020, Jacob (Jake) Fredrick Weber Jr., 87, passed peacefully in his home in South Orange, NJ while surrounded by his family.  

Jake was born in Ridgewood NJ, and lived in South Orange for 55 years. Jake earned his bachelors degree from Lafayette College where he was a member of the Theta Delta Chi fraternity. After serving in the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenet during the Korean War, Jake worked as a systems engineer for New Jersey Bell in Newark for 30 years before retiring in 1990. With a heart towards serving, Jake volunteered on the South Orange First Aid Squad for 17 years including as past president; was an active usher and member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in South Orange where he regularly helped transporting parishioners to church and doctors appointments; and served as a coordinator of the Village Leadership Team and on the town’s Citizen’s Budget Advisory Committee.  

Jake was predeceased by his beloved wife, Katherine Sharkey Weber, and daughter, Anita Katherine Weber . He is survived by his cherished sons, Jacob F. Weber III and Michael C. Weber; daughters-in-law, Mary Beth and Lynn Michele;  grandchildren, Carson, Jake, Ryan and Graham; sister, Mary Vaamonde and brother-in-law, Bill Sharkey and his wife, Ellen.

 Funeral services will be private.  At a future date, the Weber family will hold a Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in South Orange to celebrate Jake’s life as a treasured husband, dad, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
