Obituary of Benjamin John Kukis Jr.

Please share a memory of Benjamin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Benjamin John Kukis Jr., beloved husband, father, and grandfather, affectionately known as "Pop Pop," a.k.a. "the funniest guy in the world" to his grandchildren, returned to our Lord to reunite with his dearly missed mother Olga, father Benjamin Sr., and brother Stewart on August 3, 2020.

Benjamin was a man known for his uncompromising personal and professional integrity. He served as a U.S. Army Captain during the Vietnam War era in the 2nd Armored Division.  He had an illustrious career of over 30 years as a Special Agent with the I.R.S. - Criminal Investigation Division.  Upon retiring, he continued working as a Financial Crimes Detective with the N.J. Division of Criminal Justice.

Known as "Big Ben," not because of his stature but because of his generous heart and spirit, he gave willingly his unconditional love, time, his (sometimes unsolicited!) advice but otherwise useful, and even donated his own life saving blood to one of his children. His pastimes shared with his loved ones included fishing, reading and discussing ancient history, watching science fiction movies, listening to music, and spending time with his dogs. He was extremely proud of his Lithuanian heritage and family history. He was also a great orator and lover of philosophy, a good deal, and a good meal. His favorite activity was sharing the perks of his Harrah's Casino 7 Stars status with family and friends. Resolute in his convictions even up to the very end of his life, he was determined and committed to spend quality time with loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife Karen, children Kimberley, Krista, Stewart and his wife Ching and grandchildren Isabelle, Sebastian, Stewart, Anastasia, and a new grandson "Benny."

Visitation will be held at the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave, Maplewood on Friday, Aug 7th from 5:30 – 8:30 PM. (Due to current restrictions regarding the pandemic, funeral home attendance is limited to thirty people. You may be required to wait.)

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 767 Prospect St., Maplewood on Sat, Aug 8th at 10:00 AM. Private interment will be held for immediate family members and close friends.

In lieu of flowers or donations, cherish every moment with your loved ones and ... support your local casino/lottery - as per "Big Ben's" example.
